Keynote speaker: Juan Rojas Castillo

WFAO is happy to be able to present the keynote speaker on our conference «Developing Amateur Orchestras: Models and Trends». Juan Andrés Rojas Castillo was also a part of the conference in Bergen 2018, but will this year have the main keynote speaker role.

Born in Colombia, Juan is a journalist and a cultural manager. After following studies in Communication for Social Change and Cultural Journalism, he became coach in the innovation’s methodology Systematic Inventive Thinking. Also, he has acquired several years of experience working in strategic communications and public relations for the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia, the Fundación Bolívar Davivienda, and other non-profit organizations, with experiences in Colombia, Germany, Austria, France, Norway, Iceland and the United States.

Juan has also participated in the Young Cultural Innovators Program leaded by Salzburg Global Seminar in 2017 and some international events such as the WFAO international conference in Norway 2018, the Research Journey “The art student: agent, actor, author of its own education” of ANESCAS in France in 2018, the conference Music and Social Integration at the Philharmonie de Paris in 2017, and the seminar Music and Social Transformation in 2016 in Bogotá, Colombia, among others.

Currently, he is consultant, researcher and candidate to MA in International Cultural Management at the Université Lumière Lyon 2 in Lyon, France. He has also experience developing cultural projets in psychiatry, particularly at Hôpital Psychiatrique St Jean de Dieu in Lyon- where he promoted the creation of a contemporary music ensemble which interacts with patients, employees and divers audiences.
