We are delighted to be able to invite youth and adult amateur musicians to WFAO World Amateur Orchestra Festival in Milan from September 16th to September 21st 2015. We have an exciting program to offer, and our cooporation with the MiTo Settembre Musica will give us and the participants great days in Milan. By decision of the Board of the WFAO (World Federation of Amateur Orchestras) the 2015 World Amateur Orchestra Festival will take place from September 16th to September 21st 2015 in Milan. Arrival on September 16th is recommended. Departure on September 21st. The rehearsals begin the morning on the 17th, and the last concert is on the evening the 20th. See the schedule for detailed information. WFAO Festival 2015 is a co-production of WFAO and AIMA (Associazione Italiana Musicisti Amatori).

1. General Information
1.1. Expo Milano 2015 is the Universal Exhibition taking place in Milan from May 1 until October 31, 2015. WFAO is extremely proud to be a partner to the cultural offerings of Milan in 2015, contributing to the “Italian capital of music” – home to the famous Italian Conservatorio di Musica and the Teatro alla Scala.
1.2. Registration. The WFAO Festival 2015 is open to amateur musicians of all ages who are current members of WFAO, either individually or through their respective national orchestra association. 2. WFAO Festival 2015 structure
2.1. The musical program

a) Concert performance will be held in Conservatorio di Milano G. Verdi concert hall.
b) Rehearsals will be held in Conservatiorio concert hall and in Teatro Sala Fontana.
2.3. The participants
Young and adult amateur musicians who are current members of WFAO via their national orchestra association or individually are welcome.
3.1. Travel to Milan
Travel expenses to and from Milan are not included in the registration fee. The central meeting point for the festival is the Teatro Sala Fontana – Via Boltraffio 21 – Milano.
– by air at the airports of Malpensa, Linate and Orio e Serio/Bergamo
– by train via San Gottardo or Simplon (Switzerland) and Milano Centrale or Brenner (Austria)
– by bus/car
3.2. Accommodation and meals are at the discretion of each individual participant. WFAO will be glad to provide you with a list of recommended hotels and restaurants within each budget.
3.3. Meals are at the participants’ discretion.
3.4. Local transportation
Public transportation is very efficient and distances between rehearsal rooms, hotel and concert hall are not very far. Local shuttle service and the rent of bicycles (limited number available) are optional, not included in the participation fee.

5.1 Instrument rental: large instruments such as double bass, timpani and percussion are made available by WFAO Festival 2015 management. All other instrumentalists, including cello players, are recommended to bring personal instruments. A limited number of rental celli can be made available by special request.
